In many ways, Kitty is not very different from other teenage girls. She is usually cheerful though can get a bit temperamental, she can be teasingly playful with her friends, she is a straight-A student who can also be a bit clumsy, and at times can feel insecure and get a bit down on herself. She had grown up in a relatively quiet town in Illinois, aside from the occasional bullying by some older classmates, and in her early days at the Xavier Institute she could be seen as a bit ditsy and a little naive, which could be typical for someone with as strong a valley girl attitude as she had.

After enrolling at the institute to help develop her mutant powers, however, Kitty really began to flourish. While she had always been intelligent, she continued to challenge herself by taking more advanced classes in school. The physical training she underwent at the institute also helped her confidence, encouraging her to try out for the track and field team when physical education had once been her weakest subject at her old school. She also worked to stop speaking with the typical valley girl accent, though does occasionally slip up from time to time.

What never really changed about Kitty, however, is her compassion for others. Though she can be a bit selfish at times, for the most part she is deeply sympathetic to people's feelings, going out of her way to reach out to someone if she sees they need a bit of cheering up. And while she isn't afraid to speak her mind and let someone know if she's angry or upset with them, she is also willing to forgive someone and give them a second chance if she sees they're trying to do better, even those who have hurt or wronged her before. She won't hesitate to revoke her trust in someone if they exploit it, but those who keep her trust will find a fierce friend in her. As she has stated herself, Kitty does not abandon her friends. She is very loyal to the people she cares about, and will do her best to fight for or with them, however they need her help.

Because, in the end, Kitty always strives to do the right thing, no matter how difficult it can be. She will still protect and defend others in need, even those who would continue to hate her and her friends just for being mutants. She does her best to do good for the world, and hopes someday that the world will see mutants are good as well.

Phasing
Kitty's mutant ability allows her to rearrange her molecules in order to pass through the spaces between atoms. Because of this, she is able to phase through solid matter, as well as allow others to phase with her through physical contact. How well she is able to phase through an object depends on its density; the denser something is, the more difficulty she may have. When passing through an electrical system, she can cause it to short out

"Levitation"
Kitty has a form of levitation, by using her phasing ability to interact with and pass through the molecules of the air around her. In her phasing state she's able to control her ascent and descent, and with this can seem like she's "walking" on air

Martial Arts
Kitty has learned some martial arts skills during her time at the Xavier Institute

Technical Skills
Kitty is shown to have some knowledge with technology and electronics
